The Pilot Instructor is responsible for ground-based training of C-17 pilots, including instruction on air drop, aerial refueling, and transport procedures using simulators and aircraft.
They conduct briefings, debriefings, and assessments, maintain subject matter expertise, and update training materials.
Additional duties include serving as SME, Flight Check Airman, and evaluator; participating in standardization and curriculum reviews; and assisting with project work.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree, 8+ years of flying experience (with specific C-17 qualifications), 2+ years of flight instructor experience, and an active SECRET security clearance.
Physical demands involve working in simulator and aircraft environments, often in challenging conditions.
