    Job Description

Control Panel & Harness Wiring Technician (Industrial) — North Houston, TX

At Excel Staffing, we connect skilled tradespeople with projects across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Construction, Technology, Finance, Hospitality, Logistics, and more. As we grow, we’re partnering closely with clients to fill critical roles—long-term, short-term, project-based, payroll, or permanent. This opportunity supports a client’s Assembly team building industrial electrical products.

    A day in this role

It’s 7:00 a.m. in North Houston. You review the day’s build list, open the latest schematics and P&IDs, and plan your layout. You route conductors cleanly, mount devices precisely, and terminate wires to spec. After calibration and troubleshooting, your panel is ready for final test—built safely, accurately, and on schedule.

    What you’ll build and do

    • Interpret wiring diagrams, unit drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and BOMs to assemble equipment accurately.
    • Prepare units for testing: perform basic electrical tests, support calibration, and assist with troubleshooting.
    • Assemble components, devices, and wiring to match assembly documentation and standards.
    • Diagnose and correct wiring issues and ensure clean routing and labeling.
    • Mount, install, and attach subassemblies and components into larger assemblies.
    • Use hand, air, and power tools properly (screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, cutting wheels, etc.).
    • Connect leads to PCBs and run conductors between components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
    • Trim or adjust materials to meet dimensional and electrical requirements.
    • Execute complex layouts and component placement per drawings under close supervision, following SOPs.
    • Drill and tap holes for component mounting using appropriate tools.
    • Terminate wiring per diagrams using correct crimping/ferruling tools; willingness to learn packing cable glands (Kopex).
    • Collaborate with the Team Lead and Engineering to resolve production, quality, or procedural concerns.
    • Perform in-process quality checks and uphold all quality and safety standards; keep the work area clean.
    • Complete additional related assignments as directed by management.

    Specialized build work you’ll touch

    1. Amphenol cable assemblies for gas turbines and auxiliary systems, including precise pin insertion for proper mating.
    2. Terminations within control panels and MCC/I/O cabinets: strip, ferrule, label, and route wires meticulously.
