    Job Description

    The Controller plays a significant role in the future and growth of the Company. The Controller enhances financial performance, contributes to operational decision-making throughout the company, and conducts financial planning, forecasting, strategic analysis, and reporting of all financials. This individual will protect and grow the company finances by thoughtfully utilizing all resources to support the company across all concepts. The Controller leads all the accounting efforts and embodies company leadership while guiding and ensuring a fun experience for our team members.

    Controller responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures.

    A successful Controller combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports.

    The ideal candidate has experience collaborating and/or managing a team of account managers and works will with CPAs and outside accountants. Controller duties include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.

    Responsibilities:

    • Executing all accounting-related activities with direct oversight of the accounting team
    • Efficiency in completing job requirements through working with a sense of urgency, consolidating tasks, delegating, empowering the team, and advocating for others while managing their efforts
    • Assist the Operations team in maintaining and developing new processes as it relates to Accounting and Finance
    • Maintain excellent vendor relations with our accounting software, training, and accounting systems, and compliance to ensure company success
    • Build and maintain detailed financial reports to support short and long-term strategic planning
    • Regularly present analysis and reports in an easy-to-understand format
    • Manage accountants to establish priorities, set objectives, and provide guidance and feedback
    • Be able to spot red flags and bring them to management team
    • Direct oversight of company bank(s)
    • Review financial reports and determine methods to reduce costs
    • Assist with tax audits and tax returns
    • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
    • Lead month-end and year-end close process

    Skills:

    • Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting manager, and senior accountant
    • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
    • Restaurant accounting experience is a major plus
    • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
    • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
    • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
    • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
    • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
