Controller - Commercial Construction

Controller – Commercial Construction | Phoenix Metro, AZ

A growing commercial construction company is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting function and provide clear financial insight to company leadership. The ideal candidate has construction accounting experience and can manage work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and job financials in Foundation Software.

What you’ll do

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records

• Manage month-end close and prepare timely financial reports

• Prepare and review WIP schedules, job cost reports, and project financial results

• Monitor project costs, margins, cash flow, and budget performance

• Partner with project and company leadership to identify financial trends and address variances

• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

• Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls

• Coordinate with outside accounting and tax professionals as needed

What we’re looking for

• Experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in a construction company

• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing WIP schedules

• Experience with Foundation Software

• Strong knowledge of construction accounting and job costing

• Able to communicate financial information clearly to both accounting and operations teams

• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment

Compensation and benefits

• Base salary up to $155,000, depending on experience

• Health, dental, and vision insurance, with the company paying 70% of premiums
