Job Description

This Controller opportunity is with a privately held, NYC-based real estate owner and developer with a large commercial portfolio across the U.S. The role will focus on property-level accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and overseeing the accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets.

The client is a privately held, New York City-based real estate owner, developer, and operator with a substantial portfolio of commercial properties across the U.S., including net-lease assets and mixed-use development projects. The firm focuses on long-term ownership, development, and repositioning of well-located real estate assets.

Description

  • Oversee the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis and provide management with insight into financial performance.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
  • Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors and other outside advisors.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the accounting team, reviewing work and improving accounting processes.
  • Handle real estate-specific accounting areas, potentially including lease accounting, straight-line rent, reconciliations, and property-level financial statement analysis

Profile

A successful candidate will be a hands-on real estate accounting professional with strong property accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end close experience. They should have strong commercial real estate exposure, solid technical accounting skills, and the ability to manage multiple properties while working effectively across the organization.

Job Offer

A compentetive base salary with bonus potential. The role is also hybrid.
