About the Opportunity – Controller

An established construction organization is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for a construction accounting professional with deep expertise in WIP reporting, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

Key Responsibilities – Controller

• 
  
• Oversee all accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
• 
  
• Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and reports.
• 
  
• Manage job costing processes and ensure accurate project financial reporting.
• 
  
• Oversee percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition for construction projects.
• 
  
• Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• 
  
• Monitor project profitability, cash flow, budgets, and financial performance metrics.
• 
  
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
• 
  
• Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• 
  
• Partner with operations and project management teams to support forecasting and strategic planning.
• 
  
• Supply weekly reports to CEO on work in progress billing
• 
  
• Complete monthly close (10-day closing)
• 
  
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• 
  

Qualifications - Controller

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 
  
• CPA highly desired
• 
  
• 5+ years of Controller or senior-level accounting leadership experience within the construction industry.
• 
  
• Required: Proven construction industry background with expertise in WIP reporting, job costing, billing, report generation, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• 
  
• Strong understanding of construction financial statements, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
• 
  
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• 
  
• Proficiency with construction accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• 
  
• Foundation and HH2 software highly desired: Similar to Sage
• 
  
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• 
  
• Must have clear background and pass drug screen (will test for THC)
• 
  
• Ability to work on-site in Springfield, TN, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
