Location: Westport, CT (Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite)
Compensation: $140,000–$160,000 + 10% Bonus

Controller Responsibilities

• 
  

• Own and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.

  
  
• 
  

• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, cash accounts, journal entries, and general ledger activities.

  
  
• 
  

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules.

  
  
• 
  

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and staff accounting functions.

  
  
• 
  

• Partner closely with the CFO on annual audits, audit readiness, and supporting documentation.

  
  
• 
  

• Collaborate with FP&A, Sales, and Operations to provide financial insights and maintain visibility into business performance.

  
  
• 
  

• Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support a growing organization.

  
  
• 
  

• Support acquisition accounting, financial integration, and other strategic initiatives as the company continues to expand.

  
  
• 
  

Preferred Requirements for the Controller

• 
  

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  
  
• 
  

• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end close processes.

  
  
• 
  

• Previous experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership role.

  
  
• 
  

• Experience working in a small to midsized organization with a hands-on approach to accounting and financial operations.

  
  
• 
  

• NetSuite experience highly preferred.

  
  
• 
  

• Consumer products, CPG, retail, or e-commerce industry experience is a strong plus.

  
  
• 
  

• Exposure to acquisitions, purchase accounting, or multi-entity accounting is beneficial but not required.

  
  
• 
  

• CPA designation is a plus, but not required.

  
  
• 
  

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand financial results, identify discrepancies, and proactively resolve issues.
