Position Overview:
The Controller reports to the CFO, and is responsible for accurately processing and recording the daily business transactions of the company. Additionally, the Controller is responsible for directing the financial functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with appropriate financial management techniques and practices. The Controller is responsible for the overall management of the accounting department.
Essential Functions:
Maintain the confidence of the corporation's shareholders, lenders and board members through timely, accurate, and reliable financial reporting
Support financial reporting by creating the monthly accounting reporting package and performing key variance analysis
Partner across internal teams, solving complex business scenarios
Identify, create, and perform key internal controls
Own the month-end close process, including preparation of monthly journal entries, reserves and accruals; and reconciliation of balance sheet account
Have knowledge of government bid process regarding TINA and CAS compliance
Percent complete (POC) understanding in a manufacturing environment
Overhead rate development for internal and external bids and associated inventory valuation
Annual development and review of overhead rates
Ensure profitable commercial contracts and customer deal analysis
Extensive knowledge and experience with technical US GAAP, intercompany accounting and consolidation, and internal control development and documentation
Support all other functional areas with world class metrics (KPI's) that helps them achieve their objectives
Partner with GM's in understanding financial results and implementing working capital improvement initiatives
Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask
Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required
Excellent communication both written and verbal
Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Working knowledge of ERP systems
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork capabilities
Education, Certifications and Experience:
10+ years of progressive industry experience in accounting
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Government contract bid/ pricing experience
CPA / or high-level GAAP accounting skills, with POC (Percent of Completion) accounting
High level monthly financial close expertise with multi-division consolidation.
Product costing and inventory valuation expertise
Strong leadership of accounting with proven financial managements skills with operational leaders in the divisions
Preferred Skills:
CPA license preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
