Tesla is seeking a Controls Technician to join the CDL team supporting operations in Palo Alto and Fremont, CA. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting control systems to support manufacturing and contribute to accelerating the world s transition to sustainable energy through collaboration with process, equipment, and maintenance teams.
- Troubleshoot control-related issues including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, and associated sensors
- Review electrical schematics and execute controls and electrical tasks according to engineering designs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define task requirements and scheduling
- Follow procedures and provide timely updates during control projects and troubleshooting
- Order and track control-related parts while maintaining accurate records
- Conduct field tests such as FAT and SAT according to established protocols
- Maintain control software and present troubleshooting findings with recommendations
- 3-7 years engineering experience in automation controls and instrumentation
- Experience with one or more PLC systems including Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, or Allen Bradley
- Experience in motion and process controls
- Field experience troubleshooting end-to-end controls including power distribution, electrical components, PLCs, and HMIs
- Experience with industrial communication protocols including Ethernet, RS232/485, EtherCAT, and/or PROFINET
- Basic knowledge of NFPA70, NFPA76, UL508A, and ISA standards

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
