About the Role

The Food Service Coordinator / Cook role supports and coordinates daily kitchen operations while actively preparing and serving meals. This hybrid position combines culinary responsibilities with inventory management, meal-service coordination, sanitation, and operational support to ensure members receive safe, nutritious, and high-quality food.

This role is ideal for someone who:

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Preparing hot foods, pantry items, baked goods, and catered selections
• Supporting meal production, presentation, portioning, and service
• Coordinating kitchen workflow and adjusting production based on operational needs
• Receiving, labeling, rotating, storing, and monitoring food inventory
• Maintaining clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining, and storage areas
• Following food safety, sanitation, chemical-handling, and operational procedures
• Communicating supply, equipment, inventory, and workflow concerns to leadership

• Meals are prepared safely, accurately, and according to quality standards
• Food production supports member census, meal participation, and special events
• Inventory is organized, properly rotated, and maintained at appropriate levels
• Kitchen and dining areas remain clean, safe, and inspection-ready
• Food waste, shortages, and service disruptions are minimized
• Members receive professional service and a consistently positive dining experience

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• At least one year of food service, kitchen, hospitality, or related experience
• Knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, inventory practices, sanitation, and food safety
• Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business systems
• Food Handler’s Card obtained and submitted by the start date
• Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, residential treatment, hospitality, or institutional food service preferred
• Experience coordinating kitchen workflow, inventory, or meal-service activities preferred
• Food service leadership, lead-worker, catering, or high-volume production experience preferred

This position works primarily in commercial kitchen, food preparation, dining, and storage environments. Work schedules may vary based on meal service, special events, and operational needs.

• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and movement throughout kitchen and dining areas

• Exposure to hot surfaces, cleaning products, kitchen noise, and temperature variations
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or move food, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to maintain focus, follow safety procedures, and work effectively during busy service periods
