We are seeking an experienced Lead Cook to assist in running the main production kitchen that produces food healthcare and assisted living. Supervising and assigning prep tasks and ensuring items are completed on time and according to the recipes is a key aspect to this role. This position is supported by the kitchen manager and culinary leadership team.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Prepare and produce food items from established menu or recipe and ensure menus are updated as needed
Lead and direct staff in absence of supervisor and assist in overall daily operations of assigned area
Provide training and coach culinary and sanitation teams to ensure success
Sanitize equipment and work area and maintain sanitation standards at all times
Gather materials and equipment needed for specific meal service, including catered or other special events
Receive and maintain appropriate levels of supplies and assist with food and non-food ordering as needed
Complete special cleaning as assigned
Attend trainings and in-services to meet state regulations and professional standards and expectations
Additional duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance, 36+ with manual or mechanical assistance
Must transport food without assistance or with manual or mechanical assistance
Must be able to stand 4 to 6 hours at a time
Must be able to bend, stoop and reach for extended periods of time
Ability to work in and withstand extreme temperature fluctuations
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Competent in overall culinary skills, including methods and food preparation
Competent in food safety and sanitation as put forth by the state and federal regulations
Knowledge of kitchen equipment and functions
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Cook to order and batch cooking experience
Butchery experience
Country club or other retirement community background
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalency
At least four years of professional cooking experience
ServSafe certification or ability to attain this certification within a designated amount of time
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least four years in an a la carte cooking environment
Actively pursuing culinary certification or training
REQUIRED BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:
Must be able to work well as a member of a self-directed team
Ability to manage multiple tasks and delegate effectively to others
Must work well and maintain composure under pressure in a fast paced environment
