The Cook is to prepare and serve quality food in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment while following standardized recipes, production instructions, and food safety regulations. This role supports the Food Service team by providing timely meal service to residents, guests, and team members, while helping to control food costs through the proper use, preparation, and handling of food products. This position will be performed in accordance with TANDEM LIVING  Core Values, Mission Statement, and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Formal culinary training or previous cooking experience in a healthcare, long-term care, hospitality, or other institutional food service setting preferred.

• Experience preparing and serving large quantities of food in a high-volume kitchen environment.

 RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Lead and maintain kitchen operations in the absence of the management team, including opening and/or closing the kitchen and equipment.

• Prepare and cook assigned menu items according to daily production sheets, including Café breakfast and lunch preparation.

• Collaborate with the Café Attendant on menus, food quality, signage, and presentation while ensuring consistency and resident, guest, and staff satisfaction.

• Ensure all food is prepared safely by following proper food handling practices, maintaining required temperature and sanitation logs, and cooking products to appropriate temperatures.

• Produce accurate quantities of food by following standardized recipes and instructions while working with kitchen staff to maintain quality, efficiency, and consistency.
