Valley Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a skilled and dependable Cook to join our Food & Nutrition Services team. In this role, you will prepare high-quality meals for patients, visitors, staff, and catered events while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. What Youll Do
- Prepare food for patient meal service, the cafeteria, and catered events.
- Follow standardized recipes and daily production sheets to ensure quality and consistency.
- Prepare meals for a variety of service areas within the department.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention.
- Rotate between the main kitchen and cafeteria as needed.
- Prepare ingredients and food items for the following days production.
- Monitor, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs.
- Adapt to changing priorities and workload throughout the day.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using a "clean as you go" approach.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental training.
- Comply with hospital policies, safety regulations, and customer service standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Minimum of two (2) years of full-time cooking experience in a fast-paced food service environment such as a hospital, hotel, country club, airline catering, or similar operation.
- Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow standardized recipes.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to exceptional customer service.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure & Certifications
- Los Angeles City Fire Card required within 30 days of hire.
