Virgin Galactic is building the world's first commercial spaceline and the story we tell matters as much as the ships we build. We're looking for a Corporate Communications Manager to help shape and execute that story across media, executive communications, and corporate narrative. This is a hands-on role for a sharp writer and media relations professional who moves fast, has impeccable attention to detail, and understands that the right word in the right place changes everything.

You'll be part of a lean, high-performing communications function and work directly with senior leaders on the content and relationships that drive Virgin Galactic's public profile forward.

This is a high-visibility role that requires equal parts strategic thinking, writing, hands-on execution, and pitching journalists on the stories that keep Virgin Galactic front of mind. You''ll work with teams across the company, advise senior leaders, and help set the standard for how we communicate externally. Support the company strategy by holding ourselves and one another accountable for getting the work done.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer, creative thinker, and trusted advisor who can operate at both strategic and tactical levels in a fast-paced environment, reporting into the Vice President of Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Support proactive and reactive media relations, including drafting press releases, pitches, briefing documents, and holding statements.
  • Write and edit content for executive communications, including op-eds, remarks, talking points, and LinkedIn posts.
  • Track and monitor media coverage; flag issues, spot opportunities, and brief internal stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with a select portfolio of journalists and editors across aerospace, business, and lifestyle press.
  • Coordinate with external PR agencies on day-to-day deliverables and ensure alignment with internal priorities.
  • Contribute to editorial calendars, story pipelines, and announcement planning.
  • Support crisis and issues communications as needed, working within established protocols.
  • Collaborate across marketing, investor relations, and people teams to ensure message consistency.
  • Build and maintain communications infrastructure including playbooks, FAQs, and holding statements that the wider team can rely on.

Required Skills & experience

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate communications, PR, or a related field - agency or in-house.
  • Experience managing media relationships directly.
  • Exceptional writing ability: you can make a complex topic land clearly and a routine announcement sound worth reading.
  • Experience managing issues under pressure, including internal stakeholder coordination.
  • Comfortable advising senior executives and operating with visibility at that level.
  • Ability to handle multiple workstreams simultaneously without losing quality.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve goals
  • This role requires trust, discretion, and good judgment every day.
  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines while maintaining the integrity of the message.
  • Demonstrate willingness to adjust thinking and behavior.
  • Ability to communicate in a manner that is timely, respectful, and open to other ideas.
