Position Overview

The Corporate Tax Director will lead complex corporate tax engagements, including business income tax planning, corporate tax compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting projects. This leadership role is responsible for managing multiple client engagements, driving business development initiatives, mentoring tax professionals, and delivering strategic tax solutions. The position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the firm's growth while building long-term client relationships and advancing toward senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee multiple client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Provide strategic tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to clients across a variety of industries.

  • Drive business development initiatives by identifying opportunities, expanding client relationships, and contributing to revenue growth.

  • Participate in networking, professional organizations, and industry events to strengthen the firm's market presence.

  • Manage engagement performance, including realization, utilization, staffing, accounts receivable, and project profitability.

  • Recruit, mentor, train, and evaluate tax professionals while fostering a collaborative team environment.

  • Review complex corporate tax returns and recommend strategies to improve compliance, efficiency, and tax savings.

  • Lead the review of ASC 740 income tax provision engagements.

  • Research and resolve complex federal, state, local, and international tax issues.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships with executive leadership and finance teams.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of client operations and business objectives to provide strategic tax advice.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and technical training.

  • Maintain the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and client confidentiality.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

  • Master's degree in Taxation, LL.M. in Taxation, or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in corporate tax compliance and/or tax consulting.

  • Active CPA or JD with an active law license is required.

  • Public accounting experience is preferred.

  • Strong experience with corporate income tax and ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes).

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, corporate income tax laws, and tax accounting principles.

  • Experience with state and local taxation, international taxation, transfer pricing, and multi-jurisdictional tax matters.

  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision is preferred.

  • Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Willingness to travel as business needs require.
