Tax Manager – Corporate Tax: The candidate will provide our clients with solutions to ensure appropriate reporting in accordance with ASC 740, as well as work with other specialists who are dedicated to the area of accounting for income tax and work closely with our clients' accounting department to ensure proper reporting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
In this role, you will prepare and lead client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and the tax implications to the client, as well as maintain relationships with a diverse client base in various industries and assist firm leadership in identifying new opportunities and assist in obtaining new engagements.
Responsibilities
Maintain and develop strong client relationships on various tax consulting/compliance engagements
Manage engagement workflow, engagement team resources, and engagement billing
Work as part of a coordinated client service team approach, working with other practice units to provide industry knowledge and insight to clients in a variety of industries
Review engagement profitability and prepare and analyze monthly billing for assigned engagements
Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities
Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues and tax implications
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and working knowledge of accounting and tax software
Provide leadership, counseling, and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team
Represent the firm and build relationships by attending fundraisers, meetings with prospects/bankers, charitable events, professional organizations, etc.
Work as a team on internal initiatives that promote firm growth, culture, technical tax content development, and technological advances
Stay informed of current and proposed tax legislation, communicating potential impacts to clients and assisting with planning
SKILLS-
CPA, J.D., LL.M., or Master's in Taxation required; Enrolled Agent (EA) credential accepted in place of a CPA
Minimum of five years of public accounting experience providing tax planning services and/or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns
Demonstrated experience with federal corporate tax returns (1120s), tax provision preparation and/or ASC 740 income tax accounting
Ability to develop business and foster client relationships
Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills
Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills
