Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct speech, language, voice, and swallowing screenings and comprehensive evaluations to identify communication and related disorders.
• Obtain and review patient medical histories, assess communication abilities, and document clinical findings.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, medical needs, and functional communication goals.
• Provide individual and group speech-language therapy to improve speech clarity, language comprehension, expressive communication, voice, and swallowing function.
• Evaluate swallowing difficulties and recommend appropriate therapeutic strategies and interventions within professional scope of practice.
• Monitor patient progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and assess the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, treatment notes, evaluation reports, and progress documentation in accordance with departmental policies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation professionals, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and healthcare staff on communication disorders, swallowing precautions, and appropriate therapeutic techniques.
• Conduct staff training and provide guidance on the identification and management of speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders.
• Coordinate speech therapy services, schedule clinical evaluations, and ensure timely delivery of treatment.
• Supervise and provide clinical guidance to subordinate speech-language pathology staff when assigned.
• Follow California licensing requirements, applicable healthcare regulations, patient confidentiality standards, and CDCR/CCHCS policies.
• Maintain professional boundaries and comply with institutional safety, security, and contraband-control procedures while providing care in a correctional environment.

Required Speech Pathologist License as well as an American Heart Association BLS
