Cost Accountant

We Are Hiring!

We are hiring a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our growing finance team. Our company is an established, family-owned manufacturer and distributor of metal building products, with several locations across the Gulf Coast region.

In this role, you'll show us the true cost of our manufacturing and production operations, from raw materials and coil inventory through finished product. You'll report directly to the Comptroller and work closely with our operations leaders to drive cost efficiency and better decisions.

What You'll Do:

• Develop, maintain, and monitor the cost accounting system, including inventory valuation and cost allocation.
• Analyze production and operational costs, and investigate variances between standard and actual costs.
• Prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, and present findings to management.
• Collect and analyze cost data on raw materials, labor, inventory, and overhead.
• Support month-end and year-end close, including inventory reconciliation and supplemental reporting.
• Conduct and reconcile physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Evaluate the cost impact of changes in materials, production methods, or product design.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Partner with Production, Operations, and Finance leadership to improve cost efficiency.
• Support internal and external audits as needed.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or an industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory costing methods (FIFO, standard cost, etc.).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP experience is a plus.
• High attention to detail and the ability to meet financial deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to explain financial data clearly to non-financial teams.
