The Counselor I at Behavioral Health Services Inc is responsible for providing direct counseling services to clients, supporting their mental health and well-being. The role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care and support to individuals facing various behavioral health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address clients' mental health needs and promote positive behavioral change.
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clients' needs, goals, and progress.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and provide holistic support to clients.
Participate in case conferences and team meetings to discuss client progress and treatment strategies.
Provide crisis intervention services as needed, offering immediate support and guidance to clients in distress.
Educate clients and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Stay informed about the latest developments in the field of behavioral health and incorporate evidence-based practices into counseling sessions.
Assist in the development and delivery of community outreach programs to raise awareness about mental health and available services.
Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and professional codes of conduct to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Required Education:
Counseling certification.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a counseling or mental health setting.
Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural sensitivities.
Familiarity with behavioral health services and therapeutic practices.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
