Responsibilities:

Researches and interprets public records for planning and execution of field surveys and interprets and analyzes the results for effective utilization and application to the County projects and properties.

Prepares legal descriptions for application to roadway, drainage, utility, and temporary construction easements, and for County-owned or leased property. Reviews and assures accuracy of legal descriptions for roadway, drainage, utility, and temporary construction easements, and for County-owned or leased property prepared by surveying consultants.

Reviews of all subdivision plats and surveys for accuracy and compliance with Boone County Subdivision Regulations and Boone County Road Regulations.

Responds to inquiries from County officials and employees, and outside agencies regarding status of roadways and rights-of way, establishment of public roadways and other related information.

Responsible for field survey work on County projects including topographic surveys and easement and construction staking. Resets property pins when needed. Stakes construction sites for County projects.

Coordinates with outsourced professional design and survey contracts; prepares and implements requests for proposals for professional engineering and surveying services and equipment and supplies; assures the existence of property markers.

Provides technical assistance and expertise to other County offices and departments; maintains and provides public accessibility to historically significant records; assist in the monitoring, development, and reporting of the Departments annual budget; represents the Chief Engineer or the Resource Management Department as a staff advisor at Planning & Zoning Commission meetings as requested.

Continues the re-monumentation program in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Agricultures Land Survey Program.

Maintains alertness and responsibility to safety hazards in the field.

Status:

Full-time, exempt, benefited

Working hours:

Primarily 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Flexibility with prior approval.

Location:

Columbia, Missouri

Qualifications:

Must be licensed as a Missouri Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) and have at least two years of surveying crew supervisory experience. Must have a valid Missouri drivers license with an insurable driving record. Must pass a criminal background check.
