Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 Status: Primary Function: - The CPD Technician is responsible for preparing instrumentation for use, maintaining quality controls for sterilizing equipment and supplies, and for maintaining all instruments sterilization based on recommended practices and guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (21): - Organizes and assembles routine and specialty surgical instrument trays and other sterilized supplies.
- Cleans instruments and other medical devices to prepare them for sterilization.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper sterilization techniques.
- Maintains instruments for sterilization based on recommended practices and ensure safe decontamination of equipment and instrumentation.
- Ensures sterility of all surgical instruments prior to surgery.
- Inspects instrument trays for completeness and replacing surgical materials as needed.
- Notifies designated personnel of instruments in need of repair, shortages of instruments or problems with surgical materials/instruments.
- Possesses knowledge of sterilizing equipment, disinfectants, detergents, sonic cleaner, etc.
- Practices appropriate safety and infection control techniques.
- Monitors and documents that all sterilization parameters have been met for all sterilization loads.
- Produces appropriate output of work while adhering to recognized quality standards.
- Reports all non-compliant results to nursing management in a timely manner.
- Responsible for inspection and rotation of sterile supplied in accordance with established best practices.
- Maintains cleanliness of soiled utility, clean utility, and sterile storage areas.
- Interacts and communicates in a professional manner with fellow employees, medical staff and other health team professionals.
- Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers, managers, and other members of the health care team.
- Avoids repeating rumors or soliciting unfounded statements, keeps personal biases to oneself, maintains a positive image.
- Receives constructive feedback in a positive self-develop-mental manner.
