Description

The Springfield-Greene County Parks Department is seeking an independent, self-motivated, hard-working individual to join our team as a Craftsworker. This position is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled craftswork in the construction, maintenance, and/or repair of various city and county parks and facilities. These include golf courses, fitness centers, pools, Cooper Tennis Complex, and more. Come make a difference in your community!

About our Parks Department:

The Springfield-Greene County Park strives to provide the very best in parks and recreation facilities, programs, events, and services to our community. In doing so, we will make a positive impact on the overall quality of life, health, environmental, social, and economic aspects for our resident families and visitors alike.

The Park Board includes 3,200 acres and 105 sites, ranging from neighborhood playgrounds to multi-use recreational facilities to natural resource areas. The system includes four golf courses, three family centers, a zoo, a farm park, botanical gardens, several sports and athletic complexes, two indoor aquatics centers, six outdoor swimming pools, multiple School-Park sites and more than 100 miles of recreational trails -- including 70 miles of Greenways.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

• A minimum of three years responsible experience in construction or maintenance craftswork of which at least one year has been at a skilled level in one or more of the following areas: concrete, welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical.
• Experience must be commensurate with craft specialty required for current vacancy.

Licensing/Certification

• Must possess a valid motor vehicle operators License;
• Must obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate class and endorsements within probationary period for all assignments except the Dickerson Park Zoo;
• ATSSA Supervisory Work Zone Certification within the first 12 months for Public Works assignments.
