Crisis Care Coordinator

Position Summary:
Arthur Center is looking for a dedicated, compassionate Crisis Care Coordinator to join our Behavioral Health Outreach team and serve as a first-response intervention for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises across central Missouri. In this role, you will provide de-escalation support, complete risk assessments, develop safety plans, and connect individuals to the resources they need to stabilize, whether through virtual or face-to-face care. You will also provide follow-up brief intervention support within 72 hours of a crisis to help ensure continued success and stability. This is urgent, meaningful work that requires clinical skill, flexibility, and a deep commitment to meeting people in their most vulnerable moments. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Crisis Response and De-escalation
  • Provide first-response intervention for mental health and substance use crises requested through 988, Arthur Center, emergency services within the catchment area, or other referral channels.
  • Using clinical skills, de-escalate crisis acuity, support individuals to stabilize in the moment, and provide referrals or connections to local mental health services as needed.
  • Complete risk assessments and safety plans to determine the appropriate level of support for each individual.
  • Provide in-person mobile crisis response where appropriate and per policy and procedure.
  • Participate in rotation for backup daytime mobile crisis requests and on-call rotation for mobile crisis as assigned.
Follow-Up and Care Coordination
  • Where clinically appropriate, provide follow-up brief intervention support to crisis services recipients within 72 hours of the initial crisis response.
  • Consult with service providers to arrange necessary services and follow-up for individuals served.
  • Provide coordinated, integrated care within a multidisciplinary team approach, communicating with service providers regarding each individual's service and support needs.
  • Plan for culturally appropriate care services for individuals experiencing a crisis.
  • Review BHR and on-call documentation daily and facilitate continuity of care for clients when necessary.
  • Provide support to Arthur Center staff, family members, and referral sources regarding commitment procedures when required.
Documentation, Training and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and provide documentation on each client using Arthur Center guidelines.
  • Meet all internal and external reporting requirements including data collection for Quality Assurance, Quality Improvement evaluation, and DMH reporting.
  • Maintain an up-to-date resource manual and be familiar with its contents to provide effective information and referral services to clients.
  • Attend DMH Crisis Services meetings as required.
  • Maintain updated training in MCR core competencies as determined by DMH.
  • Attend required department meetings and supervision sessions on a regular basis.
  • Attend educational seminars and meetings related to professional education and licensure maintenance.
  • Assist with program development and community engagement on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor or department director.
 
Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong clinical de-escalation and crisis intervention skills with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Ability to complete thorough risk assessments and safety plans in high-acuity situations.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable: comfortable responding to a wide range of crisis presentations across diverse populations.
  • Deep knowledge of community resources and the ability to connect individuals to appropriate services quickly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal engagement skills with adults and the ability to build rapport quickly in high-stress situations.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation.
  • Collaborative team player with experience working within a multidisciplinary care model.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or human services required.
  • Active licensure in a therapeutic discipline required, or must be eligible for licensure.
