The City of Simi Valley is seeking dependable local individuals to serve as Crossing Guards! This is an excellent opportunity for community‑minded residents who want to support public safety and play a vital role in protecting our schoolchildren.

Position Details:

Salary : $16.90 Hourly

Status: Temporary; Part-Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday (10 hours/week average)

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

• Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Experience:

• Some experience working with children is desirable.

License or Certificate:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, appropriate, valid first aid and C.P.R. Certificates.
• Must possess good hearing ability across a frequency range from 500 Hz to 3,000 Hz. Hearing levels meeting these requirements in the better ear, either with or without a hearing aid, will be acceptable. If an individual meets the criteria by using a hearing aid, then he/she must wear that hearing aid and have a spare power source for the hearing aid.
• Must possess corrected vision of20/40 minimum, with no color blindness.
• A medical examination may be required before appointment and as a condition of continuing employment with the City.

• Has a personal vehicle and can reliably get to assigned locations

• Enjoys working with children and supporting community safety

• Stays alert and focused while helping people cross the street

• Communicates clearly and politely with students, parents, and the public

• Remains calm and uses good judgment in all situations

• Shows up on time and can work independently

• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather

• Builds positive relationships and represents the City well
