Summary
Performs a variety of imaging procedures, including CT scans, to obtain images for use in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Assists radiologists and other specialists in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Provides procedure-related patient care and education. Maintains records and documents of procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
- Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) or Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine or with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) upon hire or position entry
- Computerized axial Tomography (CT) through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire or position entry
- Active State of Nevada license in Radiography
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
- Must be able to work at any in or out patient location according to a monthly schedule or as needed
Essential Functions

- Performs routine and emergent CT scans.
- Explains and prepares patients for procedures and assists the radiologist with obtaining consent forms.
- Positions patient in most suitable anatomical position. Practices radiation protection procedures according to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) for patients, self and others.
- Practices medical and surgical aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Documents patient assessment/history to procedures and provides patient care and education to meet patient's physical and psychological needs.
- Assists physicians (radiologist, cardiologist, and other specialists) in performing image guided diagnostic and invasive procedures.
- Performs and documents equipment quality control according to department protocols; recognizes and reports and malfunction or variation to supervisor for recommended service or replacement.
- Responsible for following department workflow and completing patient and department records, including billing exams appropriately and reviewing images for diagnostic quality. Performs associated clerical tasks as needed.
- Performs CT imaging procedures using equipment, related accessories and contrast media as ordered.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
