Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Chief Radiology Technologist, Director of Medical Imaging, and Staff Radiologists, the CTTechnologist Non- Registered is responsible to safely and proficiently perform computerized tomography imaging procedures and related patient care according to, government regulations, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Medical Imaging Department, and policies and procedures of the hospital.

What you will do in this role:

  • Employee reflects HCA values and a sensitivity to HCA ethics and compliance principals in his/her daily activities.
  • Adheres to policies on appropriate access.
  • Respects patient confidentiality.
  • Upholds code of conduct.
  • Reviews and completes appropriate paperwork on every patient as required including exam scheduling, physician orders, department logs, imaging records, consents, medical records, and patient charges.
  • Has a good working knowledge of the Meditech computer system and responsibly completes exam orders, exam completion entries, and exam and supply charging without reminders or supervision.
  • Check medical record on all inpatients and paperwork on all emergency room patients and outpatients to verify that the correct exam has been ordered. Verifies with the patient their impression of procedure ordered.
  • Checks armband of all inpatients and emergency room patients and verbally questions ALL patients to ensure the presence of the correct patient before starting any procedures.
  • Consistently verifies presence of and/or obtains informed consent on all patients who will receive contrast media injections. Complete form and all required documentation of procedure. Obtains Radiologist’s verbal approval and/or signature prior to procedure if any contra-indicators are present.
  • Properly assembles exam films, requisitions, and film file jacket before submission to radiologist for interpretation. Has appropriate information and/or films in hand before consulting a radiologist.
  • Arrives to work on time daily and immediately begins job responsibilities without waiting for instructions or for others to arrive.
  • Answers department phones promptly and consistently express a polite and helpful attitude on the phone.
  • Can verbalize correct emergency code activation procedures and the action required to respond to emergencies.
  • Uses cautious judgment and tact when answering questions regarding diagnosis, physician orders, or patient care to prevent compromising patient privacy, confidentiality, medical/legal information, or the physician-patient relationship.
  • Reports any and all patient and employee injuries to supervisor immediately. Takes personal action to prevent falls by physically assisting the patient and by removing hazards. Personally, cleans up minor spills to prevent falls.
  • Shows responsible use of department supplies. Does not waste supplies or open supplies before they are needed. Returns unused supplies to their proper storage location. Notifies supervisor of limited supplies stocks before they are depleted.
  • Personally, acts to keep work areas neat and clean. Returns equipment to proper storage location. Keeps food and drink out of imaging rooms. Cleans up after self and returns personal cafeteria trays.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (ARRT-R) Radiography
  • (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer
  • Associate Degree
