The CT Technologist performs a variety of imaging procedures, including Computed Tomography procedures, and is responsible for safety protocols.Functions as the first line interface with patients. Participates in CQI activities.
What you will do in this role:
Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
Determinesthe most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
Works under the direction of the Radiologistat all times.
Takes x-ray, CT call according to monthly schedule after the closing of regular department hours.
Competent in the use of CR and PACS.
Assesses,evaluatesand informs physician of changes in patient’s condition during an exam.
Completes all work before leaving including checking with the nurses’ stations, ER, Surgery, holding, etc.
Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
MaintainsaccurateQC logs, service records, etc.
Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed exam; documents any deviations.
Understands contraindications and potential hazards of different exams.
Interacts professionally with patient/family.
Ascertains patient understanding of process and informed consent.
Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; neveroperatesequipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instruction.
Able todemonstratethe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteriaappropriate tothe following age groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent,geriatricand general population.
Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
Has knowledge of hospital policies and functions of other departments.
Able tomodifyjob duties and communicate with customers in anage appropriatemanner.
Appropriately assesses the patient’s pain and involves the patient in effective management of the pain usingage appropriateinterventions.
Completes annual educational requirements.
Maintains regulatory requirements.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
Consistently completes andmaintainsassigned duties;maintainsPAR levels.
Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
Completes in-services and returns ina timelyfashion.
Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.
Attends required staff meetings.
Representsthe organization in a positive and professional manner.
Activelyparticipatesin performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities
Basic computer knowledge.
Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy,physiologyand medical terminology
A high levelof cross-sectional anatomy
Proficiencywith most major CT equipment manufacturers’ hardware and software
