Job Description:
The Lakeland Central School District is seeking a visionary and hands-on CTE Technology
Educator to build and expand our high school technology pathways. The successful candidate
will provide rigorous, hands-on instruction that prepares students for both post-secondary
education and immediate entry into the technology workforce. You will bridge the gap between
theoretical knowledge and real-world application, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and
industry-standard equipment.
POSITION: CTE Technology Teacher
REQUIREMENTS: New York State Valid certification:
Technology Education (All Grades) or NYS CTE Certification (7-12) in a related field (Engineering, Computer Technology, or Electronics)
Multilingual applicants encouraged to apply
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach technology-related subjects, including computer science, digital literacy, coding (Python/Java), robotics, web design, and other emerging tech fields, to secondary students;
Develop and implement engaging, hands-on lessons that utilize technical drawing and Computer Aided Design (CAD) to help students develop visual problem-solving skills;
Facilitate project-based learning in a lab setting, ensuring students gain proficiency in Adobe, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, PowerCADD, and TinkerCAD;
Assist in the development of curriculum that reflects current industry trends, such as AI, Cloud Computing, and Advanced Manufacturing;
Integrate the Engineering Design Process and physical computing (Arduino, Raspberry Pi) into the curriculum to enhance critical thinking;
Create a classroom environment conducive to creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving within a Makerspace or Engineering shop setting;
Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and implement strategies to support students' growth as tech innovators;
Collaborate with other educators to design cross-curricular projects and initiatives;
Participate in school meetings, professional development, and contribute to the overall goals of the district.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Technology Education, Computer Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred);
Strong knowledge of technology tools, software, and hardware relevant to the secondary education curriculum;
Experience teaching technology subjects to middle and/or high school students preferred;
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, PowerCADD, and TinkerCAD;
Ability to integrate project-based learning, real-world applications, and current technology trends into the classroom;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Probationary
LOCATION: Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School
ANTICIPATED START DATE: August 31, 2026
SALARY: Pursuant to agreement with Lakeland Federation of Teachers
($64,718 - $153,608 based on education and experience)
