Part-Time Custodian
Hourly, Non-Exempt
Up to 25 hours per week
Days and hours vary according to ministry and operational needs
Position Summary: An ACAC custodian is a proactive, observant, and efficient staff member committed to providing a safe, clean, and orderly facility for the use of ACAC congregants and visitors, ACAC ministry partners and their participants and clients, and all community visitors to the campus.
Responsibilities - Maintain clean church facilities by performing weekly duties and routine spot cleaning in all public areas of the building, including bathrooms, sanctuary, kitchens, and meeting rooms.
- Responsible for room set-ups, clean-up and tear downs for meetings and events.
- Maintain and keep in working order all equipment needed to perform custodial duties.
- Have knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, safe operation of equipment and machinery, and safety when using chemicals and agents.
- Launder/clean and organize resources used to complete custodial tasks.
- Report repairs or maintenance needs using standard procedures on a timely basis.
- Perform minor repairs according to your ability.
- Respond to emergency needs of the church such as custodial, maintenance, medical, and security.
- Interact with church staff and visitors in a respectful, positive manner.
- Assist with campus security by observing persons on campus and bringing attention to actions, conversations, or general behaviors outside the norm.
- Assist with snow removal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

- Must be a person of high integrity, a strong work ethic, dependable, responsible, and self-motivated.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Uphold a sense of confidentiality.
- Able to work a flexible schedule that aligns with ministry needs.
- Able to follow directions and clearly communicate with staff.
- Be conscientious and able to work independently (unsupervised).
- Complete PA State employment background checks.
Physical Requirements
- This position is continually active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders and stairs. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 40 pounds.
- Verbal communication: Talking (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word) and hearing (perceiving the nature of sounds) are required.
- Utilize sight on the job: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
