Custodian - Substitute Position

Cohasset Public Schools is seeking reliable and dependable Substitute Custodians to assist with the cleaning, maintenance, and general upkeep of district buildings and grounds. Substitute Custodians will provide coverage as needed for regular custodial staff and support school activities and facility rentals. Weekend availability is a requirement of this position. Substitute Custodians will be included in the custodial rotation for weekend facility rentals and events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and replenish restroom supplies.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down tables, chairs, and equipment for school activities, meetings, and events.
• Provide custodial coverage during school functions and facility rentals, including evenings and weekends.
• Ensure buildings are clean, safe, and secure before and after scheduled activities.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Perform other custodial duties as assigned.
• Weekend Facility Rentals and Availability
• Weekend availability is mandatory for this position.
• Substitute Custodians will be added to the district''s custodial rotation for weekend facility rentals and events.
• Weekend assignments will be scheduled based on facility rental needs and the established custodial rotation.
• Employees must be available to work assigned weekend shifts as part of their employment responsibilities.
• Weekend assignments may include opening and closing buildings, providing custodial coverage during rentals, and cleaning facilities following events.
