Job Summary

TBest Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Custom Packaging Fabricator with experience in carpentry, construction, woodworking, or hands-on fabrication to join our team in Sparrows Point, MD.

In this role, you will build custom wooden crates, pallets, shipping containers, and protective packaging designed to safely transport equipment, machinery, and other products.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with hand and power tools, can take accurate measurements, and enjoys building durable, high-quality products from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and assemble custom wooden crates, boxes, pallets, skids, and shipping containers.

• Measure equipment and materials to determine proper packaging dimensions.

• Cut, shape, and assemble lumber, plywood, plastic panels, and other materials.

• Install metal brackets, framing, reinforcements, and hardware.

• Add protective foam, cushioning, blocking, and bracing to secure products during transportation.

• Read and interpret basic drawings, sketches, measurements, and work orders.

• Safely operate saws, drills, nail guns, staplers, and other fabrication tools.

• Inspect completed packaging to ensure accurate dimensions, structural strength, and quality.

• Assist with packing, securing, and preparing products for shipment.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in carpentry, construction, woodworking, fabrication, crate building, or a related trade.

• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and perform basic calculations.

• Experience operating hand tools and power tools.

• Ability to follow instructions, interpret measurements, and complete projects accurately.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

• Understanding of workplace safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building custom crates or industrial shipping containers.

• Familiarity with plastic fabrication, sheet metal, or metal framing.

• Experience packaging machinery, fragile equipment, or oversized products.

• Forklift or material-handling equipment experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform hands-on fabrication tasks throughout the workday.

• Ability to handle lumber, packaging materials, and fabrication tools.

• Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Team lifting and material-handling equipment will be available when appropriate.
