Custom Shop/ CNC Night Shift Supervisor

An established manufacturing company is seeking a confident and hands-on Custom Shop / CNC Night Shift Supervisor to lead a team of approximately 15–20 employees.

This individual will be responsible for keeping the department organized, productive, and running efficiently throughout the night shift. With limited management coverage during overnight hours, the supervisor must be capable of making independent decisions, resolving challenges, and maintaining strong employee accountability.

The ideal candidate is a natural leader who communicates clearly, motivates employees, and creates a disciplined yet positive work environment. Previous woodworking or CNC experience is not the primary requirement. The company is focused on finding someone with strong leadership abilities and the potential to take on greater management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead approximately 15–20 employees during night-shift operations.
• Oversee daily workflow within the custom shop and CNC production department.
• Maintain employee accountability, attendance, and productivity standards.
• Motivate, guide, and support employees to achieve department goals.
• Make independent operational decisions with limited management oversight.
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work is completed efficiently.
• Address employee concerns, performance issues, and operational challenges.
• Maintain clear communication between employees and management.
• Ensure employees follow established safety, quality, and workplace procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, organization, and team performance.
• Assist with employee training, development, and performance improvement.
• Create a positive, organized, and results-oriented work environment.

Qualifications

• Strong supervisory or team leadership experience required.
• Excellent communication and people-management skills.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
• Confidence in making decisions and managing operations independently.
• Ability to oversee a team of approximately 15–20 employees.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Hands-on, proactive leadership style.
• Ability to maintain productivity and employee performance with limited supervision.
• Dependable, responsible, and capable of taking ownership of department operations.
• Manufacturing or production environment experience is a plus.
• CNC machinery or woodworking knowledge is a plus, but not required.
• Availability to work the night shift.

Location: Newark, NJ

Type: Full-time, night shift

Schedule: Night shift

Salary: $70,000–$85,000/year
