Position Summary: Serving the public in the most efficient way possible by providing general information and processing transactions related to the Division of Motorist Services, Department of Revenue, Board of County Commissioners, Florida Fish and Game (includes driver licenses, titles, motor vehicle transactions, property taxes, and hunting/fishing licenses). Essential Functions/Responsibilities: - Processing in person and mail transactions.
- Responding to customer questions or concerns.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of applicable local and state laws and ordinances related to Tax Collector transactions.
- Navigating internal, local, and state resources.
- Responsible for politely greeting customers and providing information/direction.
- Cash handling with accuracy and accountability for all transactions.
- Adheres to office/organizational policies and the employee handbook.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Responsibility to be at work, arrive on time, and work for the duration of their shift.
Competencies: - Demonstrates excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates strong computer data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Accurate cash handling abilities along with basic mathematical skills.
Education Requirements/Experience Requirements/Prerequisites: - High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in a clerical and/or customer service role.
- 1 year of cash handling experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must pass assessments related to cash handling, data entry, and typing.
Additional Considerations: Responsibilities listed are to be considered specific but not necessarily inclusive of all activities. All new employees must successfully complete a six-month probationary period during which time their performance will be evaluated. Failure to meet the performance standards of this position will result in termination or reassignment as determined by the Tax Collector or Chief Deputy Tax Collector. All employees serve at the pleasure of the St. Lucie County Tax Collector. The Tax Collector as an Elected, Constitutional Officer retains the right to make personnel changes and decisions deemed necessary to carry out the duties of the office and serve the people of Saint Lucie County.
