    Customer Supply Chain Planner

    Location: Pittsburgh, PA

    Make an Impact

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, our mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Customer Supply Chain Planner, you'll play a critical role in ensuring customers receive the products they need, when they need them. You will serve as the key connection between customer commitments, inventory strategy, product launches, and supply planning-helping deliver exceptional customer experiences while minimizing inventory risk.

This highly visible role offers the opportunity to partner with Commercial, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Distribution, Logistics, and Systems teams to solve complex supply chain challenges, drive continuous improvement, and influence business performance. If you enjoy working with data, collaborating across functions, and taking ownership of meaningful initiatives, we'd love to hear from you.

    What You'll Do:

    Customer Planning & Launch Excellence

    • Lead supply chain planning activities supporting customer product launches, onboarding, and implementation readiness.

    • Manage customer commitments, including Letters of Commitment (LOCs), forecast assumptions, inventory allocations, and launch timelines.

    • Ensure customer requirements are accurately captured and translated into executable supply chain plans.

    • Identify risks to launch readiness or customer commitments and proactively develop recommendations to mitigate issues before they impact service.

    Customer Supply Chain Execution

    • Manage customer stock requests, inventory holds, and other supply chain exceptions from initiation through resolution.

    • Serve as a trusted point of contact for customer-specific supply chain issues, ensuring timely communication and follow-through.

    • Maintain action plans, provide regular status updates, and coordinate cross-functional execution to meet customer expectations.

    Inventory & Risk Management

    • Monitor customer-held inventory, including Dated & Held (D&H) inventory and Excess & Obsolete (E&O) exposure.

    • Partner with Planning and Commercial teams to proactively reduce inventory risk while maintaining high service levels.

    • Analyze customer demand trends and identify changes that could impact inventory, supply, or customer fulfillment.

    Analytics & Continuous Improvement

    • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and business reviews that provide actionable insights into customer performance and supply chain execution.

    • Use data to identify recurring issues, uncover process improvement opportunities, and support informed business decisions.

    • Enhance standard work, documentation, and process controls to improve operational consistency and efficiency.

    • Champion Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives and contribute to a culture of operational excellence.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner closely with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Distribution, Logistics, Commercial, Customer Service, and Systems teams to optimize end-to-end supply chain performance.

    • Build strong relationships across the organization to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful execution.

    • Support additional supply chain initiatives and projects as business needs evolve.

Travel: Up to 10% domestic travel as needed.

    What You'll Bring:

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.

    • APICS certification or equivalent professional certification is a plus.

    Experience

    • 2+ years of experience in supply chain planning, customer supply chain, inventory management, logistics, operations planning, or a related field.

    • Understanding of supply chain planning principles, inventory management, customer fulfillment, and service operations.

    • Experience working with ERP systems, planning tools, and reporting platforms (Salesforce preferred).

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound business recommendations.

    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence across multiple functional teams.

    • Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong customer focus.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience within life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other complex supply chain environments.

    • Experience supporting customer launches, inventory planning, service issue resolution, or customer fulfillment operations.

    • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Power BI, SQL, Logility, SAP, Oracle, or other planning and analytics platforms.

    • APICS CPIM, CSCP, Lean, or Six Sigma certification.

    • Demonstrated ability to independently lead initiatives and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

    • Passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

    Additional Information:

    • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

    • This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

    • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
