Cybersecurity Analyst / Security Specialist – Contract

Defend the systems and data North Carolina residents trust the State to protect.

Mfinite Consulting is building a pool of cybersecurity professionals for contract assignments with North Carolina state and public-sector agencies in the Raleigh area. Assignments typically run 6–12 months or longer; agencies set the schedule (onsite, hybrid or remote).

Pay & Schedule

• $51 – $71 per hour, based on experience and skill level
• Full-time, about 40 hours per week
• Contract assignment; W-2 hourly employee of Mfinite Consulting LLC
• Direct deposit

What You'll Do

• Monitor, triage and investigate security alerts and incidents (SIEM, EDR)
• Run vulnerability scans, track remediation and report risk to system owners
• Review access controls, configurations and firewall rules against State security standards
• Support risk assessments, audits and compliance work (NIST 800-53, CJIS, HIPAA, IRS 1075 as applicable)
• Write and maintain security policies, procedures and incident reports
• Advise project teams on secure design and configuration

What You Need

• 1–3+ years in an information security role (Mid-Level 3–5 years, Senior 5–7, Expert 7+)
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Defender, Tenable/Nessus or Qualys
• Working knowledge of NIST frameworks and incident response
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; able to pass a fingerprint-based background check

Great Fit If You Have

• CompTIA Security+ or CySA+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, GIAC or cloud security certifications
• State, federal or law-enforcement (CJIS) security experience
• Military or veteran cyber background — we welcome veterans and military spouses
