Cybersecurity Engineer - San Antonio, TX (On-site)
About the Role
Join our dynamic team as a Cybersecurity Engineer, focusing on the essential operational and administrative functions that keep our cybersecurity infrastructure robust and resilient. Based in San Antonio, TX, you'll work on-site, directly supporting business users and collaborating closely with our engineering team. This high-impact contract role offers the chance to deepen your technical expertise while contributing to the backbone of our security posture.
Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve tickets related to firewall rule updates, proxy changes, and troubleshooting requests
- Administer firewalls, web proxies, and email gateways, ensuring secure and seamless operations
- Create, update, and approve firewall objects, handling application, URL, and file share access requests
- Oversee endpoint security tools, including CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, Trellix, and Microsoft Defender
- Operate and manage enterprise proxy and Zero Trust technologies, including Zscaler (ZIA + ZPA)
- Administer email security using Proofpoint and enforce cloud security policies in Azure (NSG, ASG)
- Provide break/fix support for allow-listed applications, proactively minimizing downtime
- Collaborate with business users to ensure access and security needs are met efficiently
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in firewall administration (Checkpoint preferred, others considered)
- Hands-on experience with endpoint management tools such as CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, or Trellix
- Familiarity with email security systems (Proofpoint)
- Working knowledge of Azure security policies (NSG, ASG)
- Experience using ticketing systems like ServiceNow
- Solid foundation in IT support and networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, ports, services)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Zero Trust Network Access architectures
- Automation skills using Ansible or scripting languages (Python, Bash)
- Broader exposure across endpoint, email, proxy, and Azure security technologies
