about the role

As a Data Analyst at Team Cafeteria, you will be integral to our data operations, focusing on the end-to-end journey of our [cafeteria] table responses. Your primary responsibility will be to work hands-on with our evolving data pipeline, utilizing a combination of database querying and specific internal workflows, including our AI-assisted environments (like Claude using MCP protocol), to process, normalize, and prepare data for analysis. You will then dive deep into this prepared data, exploring it to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights that directly inform product strategy and enhance customer value. This role requires active participation in maintaining and improving our data processing methods while consistently seeking new ways to extract intelligence from our datasets. You'll be a key player in transforming raw responses into strategic assets.

core requirements

• Data Processing & Normalization: Proven ability to clean, transform, and normalize structured and semi-structured data according to defined rules and contexts. Meticulous attention to detail is crucial.
• SQL Proficiency: Strong command of SQL for querying, joining, and aggregating data from databases or data warehouses (ClickHouse experience is a plus).
• Analytical & Insight Generation Skills: Demonstrated experience in analyzing data to identify significant trends, patterns, and anomalies, and translating these findings into clear, actionable insights.
• Technical Adaptability & Learning Agility: Capability and willingness to quickly learn and effectively utilize specific, potentially unfamiliar, internal tools, technologies, and protocols for data access and processing (including our established AI-assisted workflows). Training will be provided, but the aptitude to master these systems is essential.
• Data Handling: Experience working with common data formats (like JSON) and understanding data structures.
• Clear Communication: Ability to document processes and communicate analytical findings effectively to various stakeholders.

pay range

USD $85,000 - $130,000 /Yr.

We are NYC-based, currently operating remote. We have a strong preference for candidates in or near NYC, with the ability to meet in person periodically. Remote candidates will be considered, but the ability to operate in ET and collaborate in real time is a must.
