Job Description

Varmoda is seeking an experienced Data Developer Oracle / COTS Solutions with 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications and working within Oracle database environments.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing database structures, Oracle PL/SQL code, data integrations, ETL processes, and data migration solutions. This role will support both project implementations and ongoing application maintenance while ensuring secure, efficient, accurate, and reliable data flow across enterprise systems.
The Data Developer will collaborate with Data Architects, Database Administrators (DBAs), application support teams, and external solution vendors to design, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and optimize database solutions and integrations. The role requires strong technical expertise, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently on complex data development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database objects, including tables, views, indexes, triggers, and constraints.
  • Develop and optimize PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions supporting application business logic, data services, integrations, and ETL processes.
  • Support logical and physical data modeling, database design, and normalization activities.
  • Lead and execute data migration and data conversion activities for system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Develop and consume SOAP and REST web services for integrations between enterprise applications and vendor-hosted/COTS solutions.
  • Design and maintain data integrations that facilitate reliable and accurate information exchange between systems.
  • Perform data and metadata analysis to help maintain data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Partner with Data Architects and DBAs on database performance tuning, code reviews, and database development best practices.
  • Troubleshoot database and data integration issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement appropriate corrective solutions.
  • Participate in technical design sessions and contribute to solution planning, estimation, and documentation.
  • Support both new development projects and ongoing application maintenance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with application support teams and solution vendors to test, deploy, and optimize data structures and processes.
  • Provide technical leadership for database development, ETL, data migration, modeling, and integration activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience developing Oracle PL/SQL, including packages, procedures, and functions.
  • 8+ years of experience using Oracle development tools such as Toad or Oracle SQL Developer.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, creating, and maintaining Oracle database objects.
  • 8+ years of experience with logical and physical data modeling and database normalization.
  • 8+ years of experience with data analysis, data quality, and metadata management.
  • 8+ years of experience developing and integrating SOAP and/or REST web services.
  • 8+ years of database programming experience supporting data migrations and data conversions.
  • Experience supporting or integrating vendor-hosted and/or Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle relational database concepts and database development practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to independently handle complex database development and integration assignments.
  • Strong collaboration skills with Data Architects, DBAs, application teams, and external solution vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise application environments.
  • Experience developing and supporting ETL and system-to-system data integrations.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience participating in application upgrades, implementations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Experience working in environments involving a combination of custom applications and vendor-hosted/COTS platforms.

Certifications & Clearance

  • Relevant Oracle Database, SQL, PL/SQL, or data management certifications would be beneficial but are not listed as mandatory requirements.
