Data Engineer (Mid)

Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina (Onsite)

Clearance: TS/SCI (must be eligble to maintain or obtain)

Role Overview

This position supports a key program on-site. The role involves performing regular maintenance of Postgres and Elasticsearch databases to ensure high uptime, exploring and proposing improvements to the current database setup, and integrating new datasets from various sources using Python, SQL, and Bash. This is a temporary position for approximately 90 days.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain reliable and scalable SQL databases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate client requirements into solutions using programming languages like Python, Java, Kafka, Hive, R, or Storm.
• Oversee cloud-based database platforms and maintain security controls.
• Develop and maintain basic ETL/ELT pipelines to support mission-critical analytics.
• Assist in integrating, cleaning, and validating data from structured and unstructured sources.
• Contribute to data modeling, documentation, and process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience: 5-8 years of related experience. Internship or academic project experience is accepted.

Technical Skills: Foundational experience with Python, SQL, or similar scripting languages. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, or similar distributed data tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud foundational certifications are preferred.
