Data Engineer (Python) - Remote USA

Our Health Engineering Systems (HES) team works side by side with customers to define a vision for success and deliver practical, secure solutions. We are seeking a Data Engineer to develop and support reliable data pipelines, database solutions, and reporting integrations across PostgreSQL, SQL, Databricks, and the DataConnect reporting environment using AWS QuickSight.

The ideal candidate can translate requirements into maintainable code and contribute independently while partnering with senior engineers, data scientists, analysts, and DevOps team members.

Responsibilities

·       Design, develop, test, and maintain data pipelines and transformation workflows using SQL, Python, Databricks, and cloud technologies.

·       Develop and optimize PostgreSQL database objects, queries, data models, and data-access patterns.

·       Build and maintain integrations that support DataConnect reporting through AWS QuickSight and Databricks.

·       Develop API services and reusable components that facilitate secure data access and system integration.

·       Support extraction, transformation, and loading of data from multiple sources while meeting functional and non-functional requirements.

·       Create and maintain data-quality checks, validation jobs, monitoring, and operational alerts.

·       Troubleshoot data issues and improve pipeline reliability, performance, availability, and refresh timeliness.

·       Write unit and integration tests for data-processing code and participate in code reviews.

·       Translate technical specifications and business requirements into code, data designs, and implementation documentation.

·       Collaborate with DevOps engineers on CI/CD, infrastructure as code, deployment, and environment support.

·       Apply security and privacy controls for data at rest and in transit.

·       Contribute to Agile planning, refinement, estimation, and continuous improvement activities.

·       Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

·       Bachelor's degree

· 3+ years of hands-on software development or data engineering experience.

·       Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

·       Candidate must reside in the United States, be authorized to work in the United States, and have lived in the United States for three full years out of the last five years.

What you will bring

·       2+ years of experience developing data pipelines or data-processing solutions using SQL and Python or a comparable programming language.

·       Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and strong knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL.

·       Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and version-controlled development workflows.

·       Ability to read technical specifications and translate them into working code and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience developing data workflows on the Databricks platform.

·       Experience creating datasets, dashboards, or reporting integrations with AWS QuickSight.

·       Experience with Spark, Airflow, AWS data services, or similar pipeline and orchestration technologies.

·       Experience building or supporting REST APIs.

·       Working knowledge of TypeScript for services, integrations, automation, or data-access applications.

·       Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.

·       Experience with data governance, metadata, data lineage, and secure data-sharing practices.

·       Experience working in Agile teams and using test-driven development practices.

The candidate must reside in the United States, be authorized to work in the United States, and perform all work in the United States. Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$81,499.00 - $167,644.00
