Title: Data Scientist 2
Location: West Hills, CA 91304 (Onsite) Duration: 6 months W2 contract with high possibility of extension based on performance and depending on business needs
Shift time: Day shift
Pay rate: 40/hour on W2
Position Summary
This is a key position in the Client team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a broad team of lab scientists and software engineers to build cutting-edge technologies and develop innovative molecular diagnostics products for improving organ transplantation outcomes.
The successful candidate will assist in streamlining computation workflows for sequencing analysis and report generation. This role will work in collaboration with the research staff and other departments, and requires knowledge of bioinformatics, biostatistics, molecular biology, as well as the ability to quickly grasp new disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Maintaining and optimizing existing analysis workflow pipelines
Collect, clean, and manage data from various sources.
Collaborate with the internal bioinformatics and data science teams to identify computational bottlenecks in existing workflows and assist in process efficiency where needed.
Light scripting and programming work are expected.
Education
Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, or similar fields with 2+ years of meaningful experience.
Experience and Skills
Proficiency in programming/scripting with C/C++, Python, R, SQL, Client or other languages
Able to interact with organization system hardware, software, infrastructure, and IT individuals regularly
Experience working in Linux environment, building and maintaining NGS bioinformatics analysis pipelines, knowledge of the common bioinformatics tools and databases strongly preferred
Statistical analysis and data visualization with large datasets preferred
Understand basic biological concepts preferred
