RCS is seeking a Data Scientist Expert-Java Developer to maintain and modernize a suite of Java-based backend processes that support current and future operational requirements.

This position requires the candidate to meet specific Security Clearance obligations to work onsite in McLean, VA.

What you will do:

• We require an experienced Java developer with the demonstrated ability to assess, maintain, and rewrite legacy Java applications without requiring foundational training or oversight — the candidate must be effective on day one.
• Need a proven, hands-on Java development skill to refactor and extend existing backend systems, with a preference to bring experience in Spring Boot and REST API development to support web application integration. The work may be performed independently or within a team environment alongside existing Python development capability.

• Core Technical Skills (Java & Backend).
• Understanding of application lifecycle management Core Responsibilities.
• Backward Development: Writing clean, scalable and efficient code to support business applications.
• Framework Utilization: Leveraging dominant frameworks like Spring Boot to build backend applications and REST APIs.
• Database Management: Writing and optimizing queries across relational and non-relational databases.
• Testing & Debugging: Using testing libraries like JUnit and Mockito to ensure application stability.

Required Qualifications/Education:

• Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
• • U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7-10 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with Core Java: Object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts, multithreading, and memory management (JVM).
• Experience with Spring and Spring Data JPA.
• Experience with tools and build systems such as: Eclipse, Maven, Gradle, Git, and Jenkins.
• Experience with Oracle, Apache Tomcat, AWS Cloud Framework and Linux.

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• Experience with Spring Boot and REST API Java implementations to support web applications.
