The Data Scientist works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative. The Data Scientist determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. This position requires strong technical and computational skills in engineering, physics, and mathematics, coupled with the ability to code, design, develop, and deploy sophisticated applications using advanced unstructured and semi-structured data analysis techniques in high-performance computing environments. The Data Scientist utilizes advanced tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict, and make discoveries in complex data and deliver recommendations for business and analytic decisions. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Make use of new data sets, discover new utilities, develop innovative targeting methodologies, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to devise data-driven solutions that meet the Sponsor’s highest-priority mission needs. 
• Identify, assess, and exploit relevant data streams to support mission and targeting requirements. 
• Design and implement real-time data processing techniques to address immediate needs. 
• Develop user-friendly data interfaces for stakeholders not familiar with the data, including targeters and engineers. 
• Integrate multiple data streams to create a unified view of complex data sets. 
• Establish data science techniques to detect identified signatures in large data sets. 
• Leverage diverse data sources to enhance new data sources. 
• Support multiple high-priority customers with varying requirements. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including government, contractor, and non-IC partner personnel. 
• Troubleshoot data processing issues across networks and optimize data delivery and formats. 
• Engage with stakeholders to develop solutions based on prioritized requirements. 
• Analyze unstructured and semi-structured data using techniques such as latent semantic indexing (LSI), entity identification and tagging, complex event processing (CEP), and the application of analysis algorithms on distributed, clustered, and cloud-based high-performance infrastructures. 
• Exercise creativity in applying non-traditional approaches to large-scale analysis of unstructured data in support of high-value use cases visualized through multi-dimensional interfaces. 
• Handle, process, and index requests against high-volume collections of data and high-velocity data streams, with the ability to make discoveries in the world of big data. 
• Transform large data sets into formats suitable for geospatial analysis and visualization. 

Qualifications:

• Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. 
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in the fields of Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related scientific or technical disciplines. 
• BS 10-12, MS 8-10, PhD 5-7
• Knowledge of the Sponsor’s environment. 
• Experience working with sensitive commercial partners and commercial data sets. 
• Experience presenting data analysis results to drive technical development and inform decision-making.
• Experience with the following technologies, tools, and methodologies: 
  • Software development environments, including open-source enterprise software stacks (Java, Linux, Ruby, or Python) and Windows development stacks (.NET, C#, or C++). 
  • Data transport and transformation technologies and APIs, such as JSON, XML, XSLT, JDBC, SOAP, or REST. 
  • Cloud-based and distributed data processing and analytics technologies, such as Hadoop, Mahout, Accumulo, Hive, Impala, or Pig. 
  • Visual analytics tools, such as Microsoft Pivot, Palantir, or other visual analytics platforms. 
  • Open-source text processing and search technologies, such as Lucene, Sphinx, Nutch, or Solr. 
  • Entity extraction, conceptual search, and semantic analysis techniques, such as Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). 
  • Machine learning, algorithm development and analysis, and data clustering techniques. 
  • Data science tools, techniques, and methodologies.

Equal Pay Act: This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation.
