Job Description

We are seeking a Database Administrator (Vertica & Sybase) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Vertica, Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, SQL, and Linux/Unix and a proven ability to deliver reliable database operations, optimize performance, and support mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade Vertica, Sybase ASE, and Sybase IQ databases.
• Perform performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Manage backup, recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and replication.
• Administer database security and ensure compliance with standards.
• Support production operations and on-call coverage for mission-critical applications.
• Plan and execute database migrations and version upgrades.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Create and maintain documentation for standards, procedures, and runbooks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Vertica, Sybase ASE, and Sybase IQ administration.
• Strong SQL skills and expertise on Linux/Unix environments, preferably RHEL.
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated capability in backup and recovery, HA/DR, replication, and security administration.
• Experience supporting production systems and mission-critical workloads.
• Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• 5-7 years in relevant database administration roles.

Preferred Skills:

• Shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
• Experience with monitoring tools and modernization or migration initiatives.
