Database Engineer Contractor: 3-5 years (Intermediate)

This role includes providing 1 Azure Data Engineer to work under client's direction to perform the required technical duties for the data engineering work. Examples of such work and objectives that will be executed by the Azure Data Engineer include: - Ingesting data from the Buyer s legacy SAP platform into the Azure data lake using Azure Synapse - Ingest and model all in-scope legacy analytics datasets to the target platform, including required metadata, available lineage, and documented business rules, while preserving data integrity and maximizing data quality as verified through agreed validation, reconciliation, and acceptance testing demonstrating that the migrated data is complete, accurate, and consistent with the source. - Ingest, structure and organize data within Synapse to support the performance, scalability, retention, and query requirements for the defined use cases - Maintain required security controls and compliance obligations throughout the migration, including protection of sensitive data and restricted access where applicable. - Deliver the activities within the agreed timeline and effort limits, with risks/issues surfaced early and managed through a defined governance process.

" 2-5 years of Technical Experience in data engineering or closely related development roles.
" Hands-on building and supporting pipelines in Azure Data Factory (ADF) and transformations in Azure Synapse Analytics (Synapse workspace, dedicated SQL pools vs. serverless SQL, integration pipelines, Synapse Studio usage)
" Implements data models (e.g., star schemas, SCD patterns) from established standards; documents datasets.
" Basic data quality checks and troubleshooting; collaborates with senior engineers for root-cause analysis.
" SAP familiarity preferred (can interpret SAP-sourced fields/keys; works with BW/functional partners), including SAP BW Concepts: Data models (InfoCubes, DSOs, CompositeProviders), extraction mechanisms (Open Hub, ODP), BW Queries
" SAP data familiarity Supply chain, Ops,
" Python / ML Experience (preferred)
" ETL tool experience: SAP Data Services, Azure Data Factory (ADF), or 3rd-party connectors like Theobald Xtract or SDI.
" SQL
" Understanding of Both Source and Target Platforms

2. Contractors will have to appear in person at a Client office location prior to onboarding with the client
3. There will be mandatory camera on meetings throughout the project with zero tolerance for repeated noncompliance
