Job SummaryThe Demand Planner is responsible for supporting accurate forecasting, inventory optimization, and cross-functional supply chain alignment within a fast-paced and dynamic organization. This role develops and maintains demand forecasts, analyzes sales and market trends, supports Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, and partners with cross-functional teams to ensure product availability while minimizing excess inventory.
Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and improve short- and long-range demand forecasts using historical sales data, customer input, market trends, seasonality, promotions, and other business intelligence.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Production Planning, Procurement, and Finance to develop consensus demand plans that support business objectives.
- Monitor forecast accuracy, forecast bias, inventory performance, service levels, and demand variability; identify root causes of gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Support monthly S&OP and demand review processes by preparing forecast reports, presenting key assumptions, and identifying risks, opportunities, and changes in demand.
- Collaborate with supply planning and operations teams to align demand requirements with production capacity, material availability, and inventory targets.
- Maintain planning master data, demand planning parameters, and forecast inputs within ERP, MRP, and advanced planning systems.
- Identify potential stockouts, excess inventory, and slow-moving inventory risks and work cross-functionally to develop mitigation plans.
- Prepare recurring dashboards, reports, and executive summaries related to forecast performance, inventory health, and changes to the demand plan.
- Drive continuous improvement in demand planning processes, tools, reporting, and cross-functional communication.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, inventory planning, production planning, sales forecasting, or a related supply chain function.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience working with ERP, MRP, demand planning, or advanced planning systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and clearly present planning recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial products, consumer goods, or other complex supply chain environments preferred.
- Working knowledge of S&OP, inventory management, production planning, material planning, and customer service processes preferred.
- Experience with planning tools such as SAP, Oracle, or QAD highly preferred.
- Experience using Power BI or other reporting and analytics tools preferred.
- Understanding of statistical forecasting methods, forecast accuracy metrics, safety stock, reorder points, and inventory optimization concepts preferred.
