The Demolition Laborer is responsible for safely tearing down, dismantling, and clearing commercial and residential structures or interiors. This position involves manual labor, operating specialized demolition equipment, and maintaining a clean, hazard-free job site while adhering strictly to safety guidelines and OSHA standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Dismantle, demolish, and tear down structures, walls, ceilings, and flooring using hand tools and power tools.
- Remove and clear debris, rubble, and waste materials from job sites into containers or designated disposal areas.
- Load and unload demolition materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with the setup of dust barriers, safety signage, and site containment areas.
- Operate specialized equipment such as jackhammers, saws, and wrecking bars safely and efficiently.
- Follow safety policies, environmental regulations, and OSHA standards at all times.
- Coordinate work and instructions effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and crew members.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in demolition, construction, or general labor.
- Strong understanding of job-site safety rules and hazard awareness.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating heavy demolition equipment or specialized power tools.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 construction safety certification.
- Prior experience handling debris sorting and waste management on commercial or industrial sites.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs or more) consistently.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, twist, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and dusty or noisy environments.
