    Job Description

    The duties of a Pediatric Dental Assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in our dental office. Our Pediatric Dental Assistants are motivated, team-oriented professionals who possess the ability to work with children of all ages. This position requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical skills along with friendly chairside manner.     Daily Duties

    • Verify and explain patient insurance benefits
    • Assists with posting insurance payments and adjustments
    • Verify patient medical history
    • Take digital x-rays of children’s teeth
    • Prepare and breakdown treatment rooms
    • Chart the doctor’s observations, comments, and recommended treatments
    • Accurately document treatments provided during each visit
    • Assist with managing supply inventory
    • Serve as the infection control officer, preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
    • Educate children and parents on proper brushing techniques and the importance of the recommended treatments

    Qualifications

    • Successful completion of an accredited dental assistant training program (or 3 years of progressive experience)
    • Expanded duty certification (preferred) 
    • Current CPR certification (required)
    • Experience taking digital x-rays (required)
    • Strong understanding of Slack and OpenDental
    • Competency in Microsoft Office, Google Suites, email, social media, copiers, and multiple line phone system
    • Ability to be a team player who enjoys working and assisting with others
    • Must be a problem solver, task oriented, and pay attention to detail
