Required Qualifications

• Current Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners Radiology Permit

• Active CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Current DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential or 1 to 2 years of chairside dental assisting experience

Description & Duties

• Assist dentist during patient examinations and clinical treatment procedures.

• Record and review patient medical and dental histories.

• Ensure treatment notes, clinical charts, and rendered service charges are accurately documented.

• Prepare, clean, and stock dental operatories for exams and procedures.

• Monitor clinical inventory and assist with ordering dental supplies as needed.

• Expose and process dental radiographs as directed by the dentist.

• Maintain patient records securely in compliance with state, federal, and HIPAA privacy and security regulations.

• Apply proper infection control protocols for cleaning, sterilizing, and handling instruments. Conduct, log, and report routine spore testing.

• Coordinate, send, and track dental laboratory cases, as well as patient referrals to and from specialists.

• Assist in managing patient recall systems and scheduling.

• Execute preventive maintenance and cleaning schedules for dental equipment.

• Participate in quality management activities to maintain compliance with JCAHO guidelines and clinical quality benchmarks.

• Provide administrative support to the front office when needed, including answering phones, unpacking shipments, and assisting with insurance forms.
