Dental Assistant

Overview:

Long Wharf Dental is looking for a Dental Assistant inNew Haven, Connecticut to assist our clinical team by providing a high level of patient care and satisfaction while operating in a team-based environment.

• Full time: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8:30am -5:30pm, Thursday 9am-6pm, Friday 8am-4:30pm

Responsibilities:

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations..
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed)
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Qualifications:

• 2 years on-the-job-experience 
• X-Ray certification - Preferred
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended
• High school diploma or equivalent

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
